Detailed directions from various cities

From Barcelona

There are two itineraries, which both take about 2:15 to 2:30 by car. Both routes are quite scenic in some stretches.

Itinerary 1: Take the AP7 (–or the C31/C32 to where the C32 joins the AP7–) motorway to Tarragona. Exit the AP7 at Reus Este. Then follow the road to Falset, Mora la Nova, Gandesa, Calaceite. In Calaceite turn left toward Cretas and finally Valderrobres.

Itinerary 2: Alternatively, there is an itinerary with a longer stretch of motorway. Take the AP7 motorway (or the C31/C32 to where the C32 joins the AP7) to Tarragona and stay on the AP7 all the way to the exit for Tortosa. Follow the C42 to Tortosa, then the C12 in the direction of Zaragoza. Beyond Xerta, after ~15km, turn left on the N230b and some 7 km later left again on the T330 to Prat de Comte. This road takes you straight into Valderrobres after some 28km. (Once you enter Aragon it changes names and becomes the A231.)

From Valencia

There are two itineraries, which both take about 2:30 by car:

Head north on the AP7 to Tortosa and from there follow the second itinerary from Barcelona (see above).

Perhaps more scenic: Head north on the AP7 to Sagunto. North of Sagunto switch to the A7, then past the Airport of Castellón de la Plana to the CV10 to Borriol, San Mateu. Beyond San Mateu turn left onto the N232 to Morella and Monroyo. In Monroyo, turn right and follow the A1414 to Fuentespalda and then head toward Valderrobres. About 9 km from Fuentespalda you’ll see a sign to Hotel Mas de la Costa on your left. Turn onto our country track and follow it for about 1.3 km. — If you have spare time, as you pass Morella, spend an hour or two and visit this medieval city perched high on a mountain.

From Madrid

There are two itineraries, which both take about 4:30 by car: Both start out heading north on the A2 toward Zaragoza.

Either you go all the way to Zaragoza and switch to the itinerary from Zaragoza to Valderrobres (see below).

Or: Leave the A2 past Sigüenza for the N211 to Molina de Aragon, Monreal del Campo, Montalban and finally Alcañiz. From Alcañiz follow the N232 south and then the A231 to Valderrobres.

From Zaragoza

Your travel time is about 1:45. Head southeast on the N232 to a few km beyond Alcañiz, where you turn right onto the A231 to Valderrobres.
